This post will show you the easy steps for how to sew a bunny bag from a simple pattern.

These bunny bags are perfect for holding little treasures or treats for your own little “somebunny” special!

~Scroll down towards the bottom of post for list of ideas of things to put in the bunny bags as gifts!

*Disclaimer! I am not an expert seamstress or anything close to that. Like at all. I just like to wing it at the sewing machine and nothing needs to be perfect in my book! Just have fun!

Easy sewing tutorial - How to make this cute bunny ear bag with a premade cotton pouch from Amazon. Quick and simple project for springtime and Easter gift giving!

How To Sew a Bunny Bag Steps

1.

Lay out your fabric and iron it nice and flat if wrinkled.

2.

Draw out a rough shape of a bunny ear on fabric with pencil, based on the size of your bag. Make them bigger than they need to be to allow for the seam.

3.

Cut out the ear, and get it shaped how you prefer. Then lay it on the fabric and trace that ear. Repeat this process so that you have 2 ears of each kind of fabric. (4 ears total)

4.

Put one of each kind of fabric together, good side in.

5.

Trim the edges to line up better if need be.

6.

Sew a seam around the exterior of the ear, leaving the flat base open. Don’t forget to reverse and forward a couple times on each end so your seam doesn’t unravel when you turn the ear inside out.

7.

Flip the ear inside out. Use your pencil carefully if you need help getting the point out.

8.

Repeat on second ear.

9.

Iron the ears to lay flat. You can see the difference below. The ear on the left is ironed and it lays much smoother.

10.

Next, take the raw top edge and fold it down twice to create a thin, clean edge. Put a zig-zag stitch along it, as pictured. Make sure you fold down towards the inside of the ear. (I am using the floral print as the inside.)

11.

Now that you have both ears ready, you can begin attaching them to the pouch. Pinch an ear together as shown.

12.

Hold the ear up to the side of the pouch and decide where you want it.

13.

Now, begin hand sewing the doubled over ear onto the pouch using small stitches as shown. When you reach the end of the ear, flip the ear up and stitch the edge underneath the ear as well, for added strength and durability.

14.

Stitch on the second ear, and make sure to balance the placement so the ears are even.

15.

I choose to leave the bag plain for a simple look, but adding a little face would be darling too! Maybe a button nose, and some whiskers?
